Abby Parks: Bio

Abby Parks

Abby Parks showcases her songwriting talent on her debut album "Moving On" from Cheyenne Music. Her mellow vocals are sometimes reminiscent of Joni Mitchell, but with a soulful, romantic edge all her own. Lyrics of love, loss, and hope are set to moving tracks that embody her style--at times energetic and gritty, and at others, melancholic and reflective. All tracks are supported by Abby's classic guitar stamp--uniquely crafted fingerstyle accompaniement or driving acoustic rhythm guitar.

Classically trained in guitar, Abby earned her B.A. in Music at Jacksonville State University, and now teaches guitar privately at a college prep school and a studio. She began writing songs, however, long beforehand. Her musical journey began at age 12 when she received her first guitar as a birthday gift from her parents. She took a liking to it immediately, took some lessons, and then taught herself classical guitar until she graduated high school. Places she had lived in her life (Georgia, Germany, England, and Colorado among them) helped to spark her creativity and inspire many of her lyrics, including the haunting German legend "Lorelei," as well as the romantic "Western Desert Sun," both tracks included on her new album. If you are in the mood to be transported to other times and places aboard the vehicle of music, this album will be just the ticket for "moving on."
